Just getting into vintage? Not really sure where to start? Well look no further! Here’s a few tips on what to look out for when vintage shopping! I’ve selected some perfect and really wearable pieces that you can mix with your current wardrobe. The world of vintage can be a little overwhelming at first, but it’s so broad too, meaning you’ll be sure to find something amazing!
1. Go for classic fabrics: Lace, leather and wool are just some of the timeless fabrics that have been around for decades! Choose fabrics that don’t date and you can’t go wrong. Another great thing about lace, is it’s versatility! This lovely blouse from the wardrobe will go with anything and you can wear it under a jumper this A/W too!
2. Choose timeless prints: Polka dots, stripes and floral prints have been popular choices since the 1940s and are still massive today. By picking out these prints, you know you’ll be on trend but no one else will be wearing the same thing! Why not go for a polka dot maxi skirt? This one would look great with a band t shirt or jumper!
3. Wear vintage accessories: Vintage accessories are a great way to put your own stamp on an outfit and so easy to wear! From 70s satchels to 80s statement jewellery, accessories are the ideal wardrobe updaters! This mock croc satchel will go with pretty much anything and it’s a great size for a day bag!
4. Use trends: There’s so many trends out there that are inspired by vintage and it’s a great feeling to find an original! The 60s trend is everywhere right now, but why spend a fortune on a 60s style dress, when you can get a real one for half the price! This dress is a great colour and you won’t find anything like it on the high street. Team it with a leather biker jacket for a more modern look.
So there you have it, how to do vintage without being too brash and all of it is a snip of what you’ll pay on the high street! I couldn’t recommend vintage enough!
